SIMPLE.

It matters to us at least, that we are doing what we can to ensure a healthy
life and clean environment. Not only for us here at Modern Cellar, but why
not pass it on to those who receive one of our pieces?

As populations grow and land development increases, that equates to an
increased demand for natural resources. In some instances the growth rate
requires products to be made faster and cheaper - this equates to the use of toxic and atmospheric-altering chemicals, materials and adhesives that
directly affect our environment, climate and health.

There is no specific method to gauge whether or not Modern Cellar can
make a difference in this world, but we can do our part by simply
implementing sustainable design.

We do not feel the need to inundate, repurpose or provide lengthy
descriptions of green, sustainability and eco-friendly. You may already
know what it means to be environmentally responsible. If not, a search
online will produce results in mere seconds.

We can, however, describe how Modern Cellar is environmentally responsible. This is how we do our part:

GREEN.

Reuse
We source reclaimed materials. The resulting pieces incorporate some
of the most interesting wood species not found in mass retail outlets.

Sustain
If not reclaimed, all other wood species are sourced from sustainable
resources. In fact, tree farms produce amazingly resilient and beautifully
grained hardwood.

Breathe
Take a deep breath as our adhesives, stains and oil finishes are all
solvent-free, water-based, zero VOC. Better yet, we finish all our products
with 100% Walnut oil. No slow-emitting unhealthy toxins to worry about.

See
We value details in our craftsmanship and that requires light. Our design
studio uses a combination of natural daylight and fluorescent lighting in
the late afternoon and evening.

Pack
What leaves our loading dock are boxes and interior wrap made of 100%
post consumer waste and 100% cornstarch peanuts that decompose in
water.
